Pilates

Pilates classes are based at our Long Eaton clinic

We are back in the studio, but still offer a couple of classes each week by zoom for those who find this more convenient. Sessions are available within our small classes or on an individual basis.

Pilates aims to develop your body awareness, integrating your mind and body.  We offer only small groups (6 clients) to ensure individual attention with highly experienced instructors; all Physiotherapists and Graduate Sport Rehabilitators with additional post graduate training in Pilates.

Our studio in Long Eaton is equipped with Pilates specific equipment including a Trapeze table, Reformer, Core Align, Combo Chair, Ladder Barrel, Baby Arc, Orbit, Foam Rollers, Magic Circles and a multitude of soft and weighted balls.

We also offer matwork classes in Long Eaton and online, sometimes using the small equipment items; soft large and small balls, weighted balls, magic circles, rollers, resistance bands etc.

Pilates 1:1

1:1 Pilates sessions allow specific exercise programmes to be developed for both in the studio and at home to maximise the benefit from Pilates. As your body changes and develops, so does the exercise programme helping you to strive to achieve and surpass your goals.

Safe for everyone

Pilates works the muscles through controlled movement and can be adapted to challenge any body whilst accomodating potential physical limitations. Therefore, Pilates is suitable for all, at any age, from the first-time exerciser with chronic back pain to top athletes looking for that sporting edge.

Our studio is equiped with Pilates specific equipment including a Trapeze table, Reformer, Core Align, Combo Chair, Ladder Barrel, Baby Arc, Orbit, Foam Rollers, Magic Circles and a multitude of soft and weighted balls.

We have recently added 8 x oov’s to our kit. The Oov helps to activate core stabilizing muscles while also gently extending the spine. From stretching to core strengthening to rehabilitation, or for relaxation, the Oov offers significant benefits for spinal health.

Pilates Reviews

impact physio

My husband and myself have attended Pilates classes at Impact Physiotherapy in Long Eaton for well over 10 years. We highly recommend the classes run by their physiotherapists (small groups and individual attention when it’s necessary to adjust exercises because of physical injury etc). When we suffered from back and knee problems respectively, we had no hesitation in contacting Impact physiotherapists for private treatment. We were both very satisfied with the outcome: following a first meeting for medical assessment, the sessions helped us get better, offering professional treatment, plenty of advice and a programme of exercises to do at home. Although sessions are quite pricey, you don’t have to wait for an appointment for very long and staff don’t try to book you in for more sessions than necessary. We liked their very active approach of getting patients involved in their own recovery.

MW

The staff at Long Eaton are excellent, everyone so professional and friendly. I have benefited so much from the Pilates and Physiotherapy.

SM

Friendly and experienced staff always happy to tailor exercise and Pilates lessons to your needs and abilities. Since attending my mobility and core strength have improved, not to mention the classes are lots of fun.

Kevin Cardall

As I’ve aged I’ve found that I’ve got increasingly stiff and my joints and mobility have significantly reduced. To counteract these conditions I have been thinking about taking up Pilates and Yoga again, I used to attend classes but dropped out several years ago due to a change in my circumstances. I found Impact Physio through a recommendation from a friend and decided to join. I have now been attending both Pilates and Yoga classes since September this year and have seen a big difference in how I feel physically. The classes are not only good for me but I find them hugely enjoyable, I get a real “”buzz”” out of the exercises. In addition to the feel good factor generated by the exercises, a big plus about going to Impact Physio is that the staff are friendly and approachable. This makes the classes a very good experience, one I would recommend.

I recently attended Impact Physio for treatment on my neck & shoulder. Impact Physio based at Pride Park, Derby was easy to get to with plenty of parking located at Derby Arena. I was treated by Alan Beer from Impact Physio over several months. I was made to feel comfortable throughout the Physio session & found the treatment helpful for my condition. I would highly recommend Impact Physio.

I was referred to Jenny Horrigan, a specialist pelvic floor physio, as I had very tight pelvic muscles which were giving me significant discomfort. Jenny gave me an exercise programme, together with some pelvic muscle manipulation which, over two or three months has completely stopped my discomfort. I would thoroughly recommend Jenny and would definitely use Impact Physio again in the future.

I've been seeing Gregory at the long Eaton clinic and very pleased with the service. He's sympathetic, thorough and very kind. When I've phoned though to make appointments or change dates the receptionist is always pleasant and happy to accommodate. I appreciate being able to be seen on a Saturday too and don't have to wait weeks for an appointment.

I have been with Impact for many years, they have always been a dedicated team of friendly professionals from booking an appointment to receiving treatment. I have recently needed to see Jo & Julie for a neck issue, my problem was discussed thoroughly and a suitable treatment plan and at home exercises provided. I came away feeling confident my neck issue would be resolved along with some guidance on how to avoid the problem re occurring. I can thoroughly recommend Impact, they always go the extra mile.

My First experience was with Chris Davenport on referral for hip and spine problems by my GP. Two courses done and he recommended Hatha yoga to supplement his treatment and help me long term. However before I could implement it lockdown came in so it was delayed until Autumn this year. I signed (with Mariangela)not fully knowing or expecting much in the way of personal tailoring or yoga exercise to be relevant to my situation. I needn’t have worried as the class of six is like minded and Mariangela caters (and cares) for us all. Bonus is it seems to be working; thanks Mariangela. The covid care from all at LE clinic is first class and not uncomfortable allowing for windows open. Reception staff always friendly with a smile. All in all just the tonic Update following treatment again in 2023 Not the first time I’ve used this service, same location, same Physiotherapist (Chris Davenport) and yes the same receptionist’s. As before they provided me with the ( in my view) the best treatment they could given my arthritis coupled with a set treatment time scale provided by the NHS. Thanks to all the staff.

Having pulled a hamstring at work and being unable to walk for a few days,my wife booked me in with impact Physio.I was looking at being off work for about 2-3 months. On the day of my appointment,I was met by a pretty young lady who got me to walk away from her then back again a few times.I was then asked to lie on my back on the couch where a pair of expert hands gently massaged the delicate hamstring area.A bit of manipulation got me a bit of pain, causing me to jolt slightly, but I was expecting worse anyway.I was then asked to lie face down on the couch. My lower back was then massaged and manipulated. The whole session took probably 30 minutes. The physiotherapist was always talking to me,saying what she was going to do, and wether or not I would experience any pain or discomfort. She was very good at her job, and did it professionally.Within 2 weeks, I was back at work.If you need a physiotherapist, look no further than Impact Physio. They don't come cheap, but you pay for what you get, rather than get what you pay for.Mine was worth every penny.I will definitely use Impact Physio again if i need to.

Having long term back pain is  not easy and same goes for three discectomies. Initially my physiotherapist was chosen for me by a spinal surgeon and I went with his choice but after meeting Louise and going through her 1:1 sessions I ended up attending the Long Eaton clinic for the last six years. Louise has an impressive  knowledge base and will always find a way to keep you mobile even when you feel you won't ever be able to move normal . During the years we worked together on  my back  she attended many courses and conferences and her skills make it so that , somehow, we still rarely repeat an exercise and I am sure there are many more to discover. She worked her "magic" on me so many times that I now only trust her with my recovery from yet another discectomy. Due to her skills I  managed to lead a normal life, I was able to keep my job which can be quite strenuous , I travelled long distances by plane or car , basically kept active. My admiration for  Louise is endless. Not only she is an excellent physiotherapist and Pillates instructor, but she is  also a wonderful human being ,who in this day and age  has maintained empathy and compassion for the suffering of those around her. I wouldn't want to miss Laura and Sandy and the whole reception  team from this review . Thank you for your help and support over the years ladies! It is much appreciated.

My daughter was referred by her GP and we had 2 appointments with Louise. She was brilliant and really good with my 8 year old daughter. Both appointments were thorough and my daughter was shown lots of different exercises to do at home with explanations of how they would help her. We also had emails showing the exercises in videos as well. The appointments were during 'covid times' as well and we felt very safe.
