Step by step guide to good Pilates technique and how to optimise your body’s efficiency and effective movement. Introduction to mat work exercise and some equipment based work. (Please talk to instructors re. organising beginner courses)
Level 2:
Consolidate and extend your mat work and equipment Pilates exercise while conditioning your body
Level 3:
Challenge your co-ordination and body control and work up a potential sweat!

Any of the above options could be arranged as a one off / regular basis, e.g. a group of 1 - 3 post natal ladies / work colleagues etc. creating their own course at a time that suited them.
With limited availability of level one course’s we encourage clients to commence their Pilates training in 1:1 sessions or arranging a beginners small group series of sessions with the view to joining in with the intermediate classes when at an appropriate level.
This allows individuals to identify their personal needs more specifically than in a group setting. It is a necessity if there has been any history of pain or dysfunction or other related medical complaint.

For new Pilates Body participants, please call 0115 9721319 to discuss the most suitable course or arrange a 1:1 session for assessment and an appropriate plan to be put in place. We recommend that you book a 1:1 session initially, especially if you have had any specific injury / dysfunction for which you are attending Pilates.
Priority booking for those currently on a course will run until 11th September 2011. We will now be accepting payment by standing order and are encouraging you to pay in this way. Alternatively you could pay by cheque (payable to ‘Pilates Body’) or cash.

Amount: £140 for 10 sessions out of a 12 week course. Please check the amount payable with your instructor if your course includes bank holidays or is of a shorter duration.

All courses will run dependent on numbers.
Full payment for the course must be received prior to the beginning of the course.

All Instructors are experienced Physiotherapists who have trained in Pilates over a number of years. Our aim is to use our knowledge and experience to help you realise your goals.
Louise Leeming
Louise qualified in 1991 from the Birmingham Royal Orthopaedic School of Physiotherapy. She started working as a Physiotherapist at Queens Medical Centre and specialised in orthopaedics and out-patients. Louise was involved in setting up the Spinal Disorders Unit where she worked for 18 months.
After a career break for family she moved into Private Practice and trained in Pilates. She is also an instructor for “Pilates Body” based at the Long Eaton clinic.

Fiona Hunter
Fiona qualified from Newcastle upon Tyne School of Physiotherapy in 1983 and then worked in Australia specialising in sports injuries and back and neck problems. Fiona has been working with Impact for 9 years.

Fiona then worked at the Nottingham City Hospital as a senior before heading into private practice. Fiona has been working with Impact for 9 years.
Fiona is also a qualified Pilates Instructor at Pilates Body and performs acupuncture for pain relief.

Rebecca Brown
Becky graduated from Oxford Brookes University in 2004 gaining a BSc (hons) in Physiotherapy. She has since extended her qualifications with a Merit in MSc Advanced Physio in Sport & Performance.

Becky has spent her qualifying years focussing on amateur and elite sports and has recently joined us from Reading Football Club where she worked full time for 4 years. Here she gained a wide breadth of knowledge for treating difficult sporting injuries as well as end-stage rehabilitation.
Her other interests include Pilates and Becky has trained with the APPI (Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute). She enjoys both 1-1 Pilates with sports enthusiasts as part of injury prevention as well as taking group sessions with a variety of abilities and needs.

Pilates works the muscles through controlled movement and can be adapted to challenge any body whilst accomodating potential physical limitations. Therefore, Pilates is suitable for all, at any age, from the first-time exerciser with chronic back pain to top athletes looking for that sporting edge.
Pilates will aid you to achieve better posture, strength and tone of muscles (especially in the abdominal area), improve breathing, suppleness and balance. All of these benefits will reduce your risk of future injury.

Pilates Body instructors, are Physiotherapists, who are trained to assess movement patterns and recognise any potential problems. These could be in your technique for your golf swing, your tennis backhand, in your running or cycling style through to how you climb the stairs.
We may also be able to identify and help you understand why you always feel tension through your neck and shoulder muscles!
1:1 Pilates sessions allow specific exercise programmes to be developed for both in the studio and at home to maximise the benefit from Pilates. As your body changes and develops, so does the exercise programme helping you to strive to achieve and surpass your goals.
Our objective is to listen to you and be your partner in your quest to achieve both mental and physical well being and facilitate you to achieve your personal goals.
An alternative to 1:1 individual Pilates sessions are our small group classes. A maximum of six students are taught at a time to still allow for significant individual attention.
Our studio is equiped with Pilates specific equipment including:
Trapeze table, Reformer, Combo Chair, Ladder Barrel, Baby Arc, Foam Rollers, Magic Circles and a multitude of soft and weighted balls!
